Chapter v: My life at KIU during first semester.

Chapter 5 : My life at KIU

It was such a joyful moment when I found out that I've been accepted into university on a scholarship to study pharmacy. The hostel and feeding fee would have made it impossible for me to start university, but thanks to the generous donations, I was able to start at the university with a smile on my face!
I jumped right into attending lecture classes and participating in different school activities. My mother was also so happy, and she was hopeful that things were going to get better for our family.

Life at campus has been such an interesting adventure for me since I'm doing my dream course! I'm so passionate about it, and I've learned so much. I've learned a lot about pharmacology and medicine identification, which is really exciting. I've learned so much about how to perform various blood tests, like bleeding time, clotting time, packed cell volume, and many other medical tests.

I've been super involved in all sorts of activities at the pharmacy school, and it has been such a great way to meet new people and learn more about the field. One of the highlights was Pharmacy Week, a week-long event where we step away from the classroom to focus on community service and fun activities like a visit to the botanical garden.

I've been super busy with all the awesome activities we've had at KIU's pharmacy school. During pharmacy week, we did some really cool stuff, like painting zebra crossings to help reduce accidents on the busy street nearby. We also had a pharmacy awareness run and visited the botanical garden to identify different plants. We identified a plant called tetradeniariparia, also known as the misty plum brush, which is used to treat ulcers, headaches, allergies, and coughs. We also did some cleaning at the nearby market center, which was a lot of fun. I love community service, so it was a great experience for me. During the KIUPSA conference, we got guidance on our careers from officials from the National Drug Authority, the Uganda Allied Health Professionals Council, and the Ministry of Health.

Kampala International University has been such a great school for me. It really boosted my passion for the course because of all the guidance, the different professors and lecturers from all over the world, and the availability of the required learning equipment.

I'm also part of a university research group. We're doing our best to investigate and find solutions to specific health problems. We recently made a drug that we're testing in a clinical trial. It's for people with chronic cough, and it's supposed to help them feel better and reduce some of the other symptoms they might be dealing with.
It's a really enjoyable and interesting experience studying at an international university and interacting with people from all over the world. We're also granted access to the library and laboratories, which is a huge bonus.
This was my start at the university I am really looking forward to the next semester and hope that I can stay at the university until I graduate.
